Next Generation Corolla for Maui Car Rental

Until recently, most of the cars in the Frank's Friendly Cars Maui Car Rental fleet have been Toyota Corollas of the Seventh Generation, sold in the US from 1993 to 1997. For those who don't know this, the Corolla, first introduced in 1966, goes through a complete redesign every few years, resulting in a new "generation." Interesting facts: In 1997, the Corolla became the best selling automobile in history, with over 35 million sold as of 2007. Over the past 40 years, one Corolla car has been sold on average every 40 seconds.

The Seventh Generation Corolla has been wildly popular with Frank's customers, and, for a car rental on Maui, it has hard-to-beat safety, reliability, economy and practicality. With that said, we've also heard feedback from some customers who would prefer a more recent vintage car. At Frank's, we're always looking for better ways to serve customers, and we take customer feedback very seriously. So it's only natural that we are adding another line to the rental fleet: it's the Eighth Generation Corolla, sold in the US from 1998 to 2002. These cars live up to the dream of Toyota's Chief Engineer, who envisioned them as a "Mini-Lexus." They feature a completely redesigned, even more fuel-efficient engine. The interior and exterior styling are sexier and more modern. And, the drive-train components have been reworked for a smoother, quieter ride.

We have a few of these in the fleet now, and will be adding more through 2011. They're on the price list as the "Premium Compact," and they cost a little bit more to rent than the older cars, because, well, they're newer and nicer. Book'em now, while they last.

This makes two new lines for Maui car rental that we've announced for 2011. The "Premium Compact," subject of this post, and the "Premium Wagon," Mazda Protege 5, announced in a previous post. But that's not all. There are a few more things left to announce. Stay tuned.
